Program OVerview

Our partner program supports organizations to strengthen the relational skills required to successfully meet their purpose. We work with your group to develop goals and customize a program that includes a series of group retreats, personalized coaching and practice plans.

When we say relational skills, we’re referring to things like generative conflict, values-aligned accountability, and renegotiating how we hold power and difference. For a deeper look at our understanding of relational skills, please check out our six elements.

Oftentimes, good facilitation can create catharsis and breakthroughs in the “training room,” but without support for daily practice, this quickly fades. Our work supports groups to develop long-term practice plans to make the change stick.

We work with whole organizations, rather than individuals, because groups are the heart of movements. They are a place where people transform, learn how to act together, where we hold each other accountable and grow.

We work with groups that are committed to at least one of the following:

  • Bringing mass numbers of people into fighting organizations to win collective power.

Examples: base-building campaign organizations, tenants unions, workers centers, labor unions

  • Building working class and historically oppressed people’s control over resources (i.e. land, money, infrastructure), labor, and/or the decisions that affect our lives at scale.

Examples: worker cooperative networks, federations, and coalitions; community land trust and land stewardship projects; economic democracy projects

  • Building the power and leverage of the broader mass-based, power-building Left, beyond specific sector.

Examples: electoral work increasing movement influence over policy, a popular podcast bringing mass numbers of people to identify as part of power-building Left movements, a coalition-building effort among power-building groups

Within the above strategic criteria, we prioritize groups and individuals that:

  • See themselves as playing–or want to play–a role in building a broader Left, mass-based, power-building movement ecology.
  • Are open to transformation: challenging their own habits and beliefs, taking risks for the sake of growth, receiving potentially difficult feedback/assessments and integrating them accordingly
  • Are taking the reality of climate collapse and corresponding social, economic, and political crises seriously in terms of their strategy and vision

If your group is interested in working with us and you meet the above criteria, please complete this intake form and we will follow-up to schedule an initial call.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long before we know if we’ve been accepted into a Partner Program?

Once we receive your intake form we will respond within 2 weeks to schedule an intake call with a Facilitator. After the intake call we’ll let you know whether we’ve given your program initial approval – meaning approval pending a budget agreement and assigning a facilitation team. Then we’ll notify you of final approval and introduce you to your facilitation team. If your group’s  needs don’t match this timeline, let us know, and we’ll work something out.

How long is a workshop?

The length of a partner program depends on your organization’s specific needs.

How much does it cost?

We offer a sliding scale based on your organization’s budget. See below for sliding scale chart. If you have any questions please feel free to reach out to info@wildfireproject.org

Is the timeline to schedule workshops flexible?

We will work within your group’s schedule to find the best time for full participation by your group and availability of our facilitators.

How many group members or staff should be a part of the workshop? Can it be different people each time?

Who should attend depends on the goals of the workshop. The facilitation team and supervisor for your program can help you make specific participant decisions, but our general rule is that if someone’s participation is required to make or carry out an organizational decision, they should be in the room. Our model is based on working with whole-organizations.

We ask that all participants attend all workshops in the program, except in cases where a specific arrangement is worked out with the facilitation team ahead of time in service of the program’s goals (i.e. a portion with staff, and a portion with staff plus member leaders).

What’s the difference between Partner Programs and Custom Programs, and which should we apply for?

Our Partner Program model consists of three multi-day workshops over the course of a year, with practice and direct support in between workshops. We designed this model to facilitate deep, long-term organizational transformation.

When an organization’s needs do not fit the Partner model, we can build a Custom Program that works for them. Our Custom Programs have included coalition gatherings, single-day workshops, retreats, webinars, and conflict transformation series.

Partner Program rates are offered as a package and are lower than Custom Program rates, where Custom Program costs are determined on an hourly basis (see the rates sections of the Partner Program and Custom Program pages for more information).

Because longer-term programs offer opportunities for more practice, they often produce more lasting results. We encourage you to consider our Partner Program model, but are happy to be in conversation if partnership doesn’t work for your organization at this time.

How long before we know if we’ve been accepted into a Partner Program?

For 2020 Partner Programs, the application period is open from September 10 until November 10. Within two weeks of submitting your application, you’ll have an intake call with our Program Director. Within a month of submitting your application, we’ll let you know whether we’ve given your program initial approval–meaning approval pending a budget agreement and assigning a facilitation team. We’ll notify you of final approval and introduce you to your facilitation team by February 2020. If your group’s needs don’t match this timeline, let us know, and we’ll work something out.

How long is a workshop?

A Wildfire Partner Program is 3 workshops over a span of 6 months to one year. Each workshop is at least two, 8-hour days and sometimes includes an opening session the evening prior. We occasionally make adjustments to this model based on program goals and organizational needs.

The length of custom programs depends on your organization’s specific needs.

How much does it cost?

We offer a sliding scale fee structure depending on your organization’s budget. Our rates are noted at the bottom of this page. If your organization can pay more or needs to pay less than what is noted, we’d love to be in conversation with you. See below for a breakdown.

“Wildfire is a blessing for activists, organizations and movements! One of the best decisions we’ve made is to work with Wildfire over the last year. They created a sacred space for us to speak our truths and listen to one another, which strengthened our internal and external communication and work in the world. And recently, when we were overwhelmed responding to the fires in the Amazon, they held much-needed space for us to come together as a team to respond with big vision for the immediate and long-term. In a few hours we gained clarity for what we needed to do. For that, we are so grateful!”
– Leila Salazar-López, Executive Director, Amazon Watch

“Wildfire facilitation is very unique in how responsive they are to the needs of the organization. I really appreciate how much they care about our organization’s growth as well as each individual’s personal transformation. They know when to push us and when to support us. Not only do their tools and exercises help us stay accountable to our own growth, but also their facilitation style balances being both warm and friendly while also being direct in challenging us towards our edges. Wildfire facilitators have a wealth of knowledge to share and seem to really practice what they preach.”

    Apply NOW

Thank you for your interest in working with the Wildfire Project! We look forward to building with you. Below is a brief intake form to help us get to know your group. Answer every question to the best of your ability, but keep it short! A few sentences is great. Easier for you to write and us to read.

“The Wildfire team supported members of our Council of Elders to tap into their agency and enhance their awareness of what motivates them to perform and act in accordance with our North Star.  The Team operates from a place of truth and respect, which supported our ability to trust them and their ability to influence meaningful positive change in our group culture. They were able to understand our diversity, range of complex ideas and stories, and synthesize these into constructive outcomes, focused discussions, and next steps.”
